Course focuses on essentials of pediatric orthopaedics including casting, splinting, and basic fracture care and is taught in a new children's hospital. A. Luke
This elective offers students experience in Primary Care Sports Medficine. Students will master the musculoskeletal physical examination and learn basic management for common sports medicine injuries. The student may participate in event coverage at the high school or college level, or at mass participation events (i.e. marathon coverage). Students will do a short literature review topic as a project.

150.01. Research in Orthopaedic Surgery. (6-18 units) Su, Fa, Wi, Sp, SS1, SS2, SS3. Prerequisites: Surgery 110 and 111 and permission of instructor. Research 18 hours.

M. Diab
This course is designed for MS1 & MS2 students. Students will learn to: recognize the presentation of musculoskeletal conditions; understand how to evaluate a patient with a musculoskeletal condition, including directed physical examination, appropriate tests and imaging; manage the patient with a musculoskeletal condition at a level appropriate for your skill set, e.g. primary care physician versus surgeon; recognize when, how, & whom to consult for further management.

160.02. Applied Anatomy of the Musculoskeletal System. (1 units) Sp. Prerequisites: Medical student. Restrictions: 1st year Medical students only. Seminar 6 hours.

Review of anatomy as relevant to the clinical performing a physical examination and to the surgeon performing an approach to the musculoskeletal system. Students will learn surface anatomy from each other, and lead weekley discussions of surgical approaches.
