Students, under supervision, are responsible for patient evaluation and participation in treatment planning for inpatients, outpatients, and consultation/liaison, They attend seminars related to clinical work. This course is taught in conjunction with the 4-week Neurology 110 clerkship, resulting in an 8-week long continuity clinic and a combined psychiatry and neurology conference.

This course has been designed to expose the student to a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings in which child psychiatrists function. Students will gain exposure to the psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, and will learn how to function as part of an interdisciplinary team. Students will also complete an independent project.

A. Goodwin, A. Etheridge
An adv. clinical elective focusing on assessment and treatment of mentally ill criminal offenders at risk of going to state prison who have severe and persistent disorders, often with dual substance and psychiatric diagnoses. Students will learn about and participate in managing these patients within a case management model which provides medication management, case management, individual and group psychotherapy, and vocational services.

This course provides students with an overview of services available to patients who have experienced a sexual assault. Activities include: being on-call for sexual assault examinations at SFGH; observing didactics, group counseling, medication intakes, and medical follow-up at the Trauma Recovery/Rape Treatment Center; attending a monthly Sexual Assault Response Team meeting; observing on-going legal cases; visiting the District Attorney’s office, the Sex Crimes division of the SFPD and SFWAR

Tier 1B:Supervised evaluation and treatment of patients on the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service at the Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno. Learning opportunities include teaching rounds, consultation seminar and didactic courses, biopsychosocial rounds, and direct clinical care.

Staff
Participation according to students' level of experience in experimental work in areas such as neurophysiology, operant conditioning, psychophysiology, immunochemistry, and nonlexical communication. All work is under the close supervision of members of the faculty.
