140.01. Advanced InPatient in Urology. (6 units) Su, Fa, Wi, Sp, SS1, SS2, SS3. Prerequisites: Surgery 110. Restrictions: Medical student.

This rotation is an advanced clerkship in Urology that is based at UCSF Moffitt Hospital and the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Mt Zion campus. Students will have exposure to one week at SFGH and SF VAMC. Students act as an intern on the service and are actively involved in ward care, operative room procedures, and outpatient clinics. Attending rounds, weekly seminars with residents and a real opportunity to become an active member of the urology team.

140.02. Off-Campus Clerkship. (3-6 units) Su, Fa, Wi, Sp, SS1, SS2, SS3. Prerequisites: Surgery 110.

Clinical clerkship in off-campus hospitals approved by the chairperson of the department and the dean.

140.05. Urology for Primary Care. (3 units) Su, Fa, Wi, Sp, SS1, SS2, SS3. Prerequisites: 4th year standing. Restrictions: None Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Clinic 6 hours. Patient Contact 30 hours.

Over a 2-week elective this clerkship insures: 1) solid exposure to a variety of urologic disorders, 2) consistent exposure to urology MDs, 3) continuity of exposure over the 2 week period, 4) exposure to in-patient, out-patient and operating room activity in urology, 5) student exposure to a "team" of caregivers and the satisfaction of becoming a team member.

140.06. Urologic Oncology. (6 units) Su, Fa. Prerequisites: Surgery 110. Restrictions: 4th year standing. Conference 4 hours. Clinical exp/Patient Contact 36 hours.

The students play an active role in ourpatient clinics, multidisciplinary conferences, management of inpatients, and surgical cases. The participant will function as an integral member or the urology healthcare team, along with senior urology residtnes and attending faculty. Students are expected to actively participate in the operating room, develop independent oncologic cases, case presentations, periodic literature review.

150.01. Research in Urology. (6-18 units) Su, Fa, Wi, Sp, SS1, SS2, SS3. Prerequisites: Must be third- or fourth-year medical student. Conference 4 hours. Library 1 hours.
