120 Microbiology in Pharmacy (2.0 units)

Spring
Instructor(s):E. Joyce Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of all first-year required coursework.
Activities: Lecture: 20 hours
Fundamentals of microbiology for pharmacy students with emphasis on mechanisms of disease produced by bacteria, fungi, and viruses and the associated antimicrobial agents. (CL PHARM)

121 Immunology (3 units)

Fall
Instructor(s):F. Brodsky
Activities: Lecture: 3 hours
This course teaches the principles of basic immunology needed for the practice of pharmacy, as well as case studies covering immunology in the practice of clinical pharmacy. (BIO THERAP)

150.01 Research in Microbiology (1.5 - 18 units)

Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer

§

Fall, Winter, Spring
Instructor(s):A. Sil Prerequisite(s): None.
Restrictions:None. Activities: Lecture: 1 hours
The Microbial Pathogenesis Journal Club consists of weekly presentations of research and discussion about multiple aspects of microbial pathogenesis and host response by UCSF scientists and investigators as well as outside speakers in the field of microbial pathogenesis. (MICROBIOL)

212 Immunology Journal Club (1 units)

Fall, Winter, Spring
Instructor(s):K. Ansel, K. Ansel Prerequisite(s): Micro 204
Restrictions:None. Activities: Lecture: 1 hours
Course explores recent discoveries in Immunology. Students required to present once for 25 minutes. Presentations can be on recent publications of immunological interest, or student's own research. The focus on current immunological knowledge and recent breakthroughs exposes students to material relevant to their research projects. Faculty are assigned for each presentation as necessary. (MICROBIOL)
